Hi friends!
You might already know that I've been having this Metabolism Boost Drink every morning since detox January! I've been sharing it in my stories on Instagram, and have received numerous inquiries about how to make it. So I've included the recipe below for you to try!
So, what the heck is in this morning drink that has become a daily regiment?
- Lemon juice
- Apple cider vinegar
- Ginger
- Cinnamon
- Cayenne Pepper
- Water

This metabolism booster has become my ritual that I take before my breakfast, and after my morning workout. I find it's a wonderful way to start my day with a healthy mindset. It gives me the motivation I need to continue this mindset throughout the day.
As to whether or not this drink has actually boosted my metabolism...honestly, I don't know. If there was a test I could take that would tell me TRUST ME I'd be all over it. But what I have noticed is that I feel really good from taking this morning drink. I feel energized, less bloated, and I haven't been sick all winter. Now, whether I can attribute that entirely to this metabolism boost drink, I think not. There are many factors at play; I like to eat healthy, workout daily, and I try to get a good night sleep. These all play a big factor in revving up that metabolism. But I won't disregard that this drink isn't a positive addition to my efforts. And above all, I've been feeling really good about my body, and how it looks and feels. So I say, shots all around!

This recipe is sort of a hybrid of the many cayenne/lemon/ginger shots that's been passed around the health and fitness community for decades. The reason why this said drink is to be a metabolism boost is because it has a lot of ingredients that aid in fat loss. Apple cider vinegar being the most trendy as of late. A quick google search will tell you that ACV reduces the speed at which glucose (sugar) enters the blood, thereby lowering blood sugar levels. High blood sugar levels is what causes our body to store fat. I have some friends who will take a spoonful of AVC every morning because of its said benefits, but I imagine that intense burn going down is not very good for our oesophagus! Thats one of the reasons I love this drink so much, it's a great way to dilute it.
I think the fact that ACV is fermented must also have something to do it fat burning benefits. Fermented foods in general are so good for our digestion because the active bacterial culture helps create a healthy gut. So I imagine it's also connected to our metabolism. Just one tip when you're buying ACV: You want the liquid to be a bit cloudy, or have some sediment at the bottom of the bottle. I used to think it meant the bottle was expired, but actually it's a good thing! That tells you it's a quality ACV that actually has some live bacterial culture in it.

Now, I don't want to get too consumed in explaining all the health benefits of each ingredient in this recipe because I'm not a nutritionist, and I'm sure your Googling skills are just as good as mine. But as I said I've been turning to this little mocktail every morning for a healthy start to my day because I like how it's making my body and healthy mentality feel. So I've shared this super easy recipe in case it helps you too. And when I say easy I mean it! I've got a bit ambitious with the photos for this recipe, cutting the ginger into stars, and adding little cinnamon stir sticks, but that's only because the pictures had to be pretty enough to post! I promise you that the ginger tastes just the same whether being cut into a stars or not. ;)
I really hope you enjoy this morning metabolism boost drink as much as I do, and that you reap all the healthy benefits. If anything, know that this healthy little drink is rich with nutrients and fat-burning properties to get your day off to a healthy start.
Bottoms up!
